Living in Medway

Why Medway

Medway is a truly great place to live. It’s affordable, sits by a lovely river… all surrounded by the natural beauty of Kent. But the main reasons we think you’ll love Medway are…
30 days of free festivals and events every year. More free festivals than anywhere else outside London – including our world famous Dickens Festival in the winter and summer.
And speaking of Dickens – Charles used to live here – you can even visit the chalet he used to use to write his famous novels in.
You can relax in SEVEN award winning parks
Affordable house prices for SE England. You’ll be able to afford to live here.
You’re not far from London. In fact, if you caught a train after work, you could be enjoying a drink at St Pancras just after 6pm.
Speaking of travel, you’re also only 20 minutes from direct trains to Paris, Brussels or Lille.
You’re just 40 mins from ferry ports transporting you to the rest of Europe.
You can sail on the river Medway…
Or you can just have a drink and something to eat next to it on a sunny day.
The Historic Dockyard in Chatham is like walking around a movie set – hardly surprising given the number of Hollywood films and TV shows that are filmed there – even Kanye West has filmed a video there.
The Dockyard is also the home of Universities at Medway, a collaboration of the University of Greenwich, the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University on a single campus in Chatham.
It has an award-winning social work academy! (Well we had to mention that somewhere didn’t we?)
